Our Mission

Long Term America exists to shift the conversations and ultimately the actions of the United States toward what matters for long-term strength and stability.

Today, election cycles, headlines, and political personalities drive much of our national focus. They pull us away from the decisions that actually determine the country’s long-term strength and stability.

We are starting with fiscal responsibility: the federal deficit, the national debt, and what it means to manage them honestly. These are not abstract numbers. They shape our economic resilience, our policy choices, and the country we leave behind.

Over time, we plan to expand into other areas that meaningfully impact the long-term success of the United States, always with the same focus: what strengthens the country not just today, but over decades.

Our Approach

We are not here to promote a single set of policy answers.

Our goal is to bring people together to be able to influence our elected officials to act in our long-term interests.

We focus on shifting the conversation first. When people think about the longer term, the decisions that follow begin to change.

We do this through research, interviews, discussions, and forums—along with any creative approach that helps bring thoughtful people together to solve our complex challenges.

The aim is simple: create space for serious, grounded conversation about the country’s future—and help turn that conversation into meaningful action over time. The future deserves it.

How We Got Started

Long Term America was founded by Andrew Neitlich, an entrepreneur who spent 25 years building a company before selling it to private equity. Not ready to retire, he began thinking seriously about where he could have meaningful impact in a new area.

Like many people, he found himself frustrated by the same issue: the country’s spending, deficits, and growing debt. It was easy to complain to family and with friends. It was much harder to step back and think seriously about what solving the problem would actually require.

After standing in a maddeningly long airport line during yet another government shutdown, Andrew decided to act. He started Long Term America the next day.

Long Term America believes these problems are worth tackling directly, and that doing so requires more engagement, more honest conversations, more courage, and a longer-term view than we typically bring to them.
